We Haven't Seen the Last of Him
So I see that Karl Rove is leaving office at the end of August. This timing isn't so surprising given Bush's second term is coasting like a banged-up jalopy without steering or engine into the brick wall of the November '08 elections. And Rove's true artistry was never policy. Too boring. Too many pesky Democrats pooh-poohing his initiatives. Too many (but less than ever before, thanks in part to him) checks and balances.
Yes, the timing makes sense for a much more important reason; Rove's special talents lie in getting people "elected." By whatever means necessary. He'll take a month or two off (working until 11pm instead of 3:00am), then go balls-out until next November. The only question is which Republican candidate's team does he join?
Watch the polls. If you see one of the GOP hopefuls make a quick surge in the late Fall, you'll know whose strings Karl is pulling.

I thought the same thing when I heard the news today. The only way we could keep that weasel* from continuing to demolish our democracy would be to lock him up in jail...but even then, he'd probably find a way to pull the strings.
*Pardon my sullying your blog mascot.
